About Us

By promoting Jewish values, the Utah Section of NCJW fosters personal growth and develops community leadership to make a real difference in the lives of women, children and families in our local, national and global communities.

In the past year, our section won a prestigious award from National for our long-running Shalom Salaam Tikkun-Olam Project. Our board member, Rochelle Kaplan, accepted an invitation from National to become State Public Affairs Chair for Utah. Interim president Eileen Hallet Stone, accepted an invitation to join the NCJW Section Advisory Council. We signed onto the coalition to protect GRAMA, which keeps our government records open and transparent. We had an expert panel of environmental and conservation leaders speak before our membership, continue to work for ethics reform and fair redistricting, held, with Hadassah, our annual Komen Race for the Cure, sponsored an educational panel discussing teen sexuality, provided entertainment to women and children in protective shelters, worked to promote statewide legislation benefitting women, children, families, the LGBT and refugee/immigrant communities, toured the Utah Food Bank, co-sponsored two documentary films, organized senior holiday events and for the 19th year, participated in the Shalom Salaam Tikkun-Olam Project delivering meals and necessities to senior citizens, families at risk and refugees, and hosted an Israeli speaker.

Social events have included a ski day, our book club, an informal hiking/snowshoeing group, participating in the community-wide Jewish Arts Festival, Yom Ha-Shoah and Israel birthday events.

We will continue to work with the national office on campaigns to end domestic violence (Higher Ground), protect contraception access (Plan A), promote judicial fairness (Benchmark) and promote and protect the vote. We will also participate in the emergency initiative, Voices for Reproductive Choices, in this time when women face new legal threats and economic challenges. NCJW also works to improve the lives of women, children and immigrants in Israel. NCJW sponsors the first women and gender studies program in the Middle East, conducts education research and provides grants through its Yad b’Yad and Women to Women programs.
